"Dalton's Delight at PB as Anglers Join YDP In Fundraising for Charities"

August 23, 2017

York Darts promotions have set themselves a massive target to raise funds during 2017 for two charities, which are the Smiley Riley Fund and Prostate Cancer UK. We have set out a very ambitious target of £20,000 and are running various events throughout the year to help us reach this target and with the help and support of the many people around us we will have an amazing opportunity of achieving this.

The majority of events are darts related, with the YDP Synergy Cleaning Champion of Champions, which is being played throughout the year, along with a Charity Gala Night at the Principal Hotel in York on Wednesday 13th December being the main fundraising events.

But we have now gone in search of the support of anglers to help boost our fundraising and after a charity fishing event held at Redwood Park near York on Saturday 12th August 2017 we have added a further two charity fishing events to our calendar.

The match fished on the 12th August attracted 24 anglers which saw Graham Skirrey win the match fished on Redwood Lake with 61lb 1oz fishing bunches of maggots fishing at 8 meters and feeding maggots whilst Darren Evennett's weight of 41lb 10oz was enough to win the match on the Canal with his catch predominantly being F1s using soft 4mm pellets fishing at 4 meters.

The biggest fish of the day was caught by Chris Dalton who landed a personal best Carp of 18lb.

Our thanks go out to Redwood Park for giving us reduced fishing rates at the lakes. Also to Peg Sponsors York Print, York Tackle, Ashes Associates, Mark Leslie Roofline, Russ Turpin School of Motoring, Drax Darts, GP Decorating, Mitre Angling and Face Fillers. Also thanks to the Mitre Pub in York who on the evening laid on a buffet where some of the anglers mixed with the regulars of the pub to enjoy an evenings entertainment with artist Danny Tait and raise further funds taking the total raised on the day to £400.

Two more matches are now arranged for 2017. The first is on Saturday 2nd September at Redwood Park near York and the second is at the Railway Pond, York on Saturday 7th October. Both matches are being fished 10.15am to 4.15pm and there are limited entries available at each venue.

We are also looking for more peg sponsors at each event the cost of which is just £20 or £35 if you sponsor a peg at each of the matches.

For further information on match entry availability or to become a peg sponsor please contact Neil Hart on 07921128063.
