Mark "Nitro" Lawrence, pictured with Tracy Ann Teamdarts Prostate Cancer UK, moved to the top of the 7th Streamline Taxis  York Open Darts Championship Order of Merit after defeating York's Richie Corner 5-3 in the final of Ranking Event No.2 held at Huntington WMC in York.

The event organised in Association with Red Dragon Darts and York Print  Company saw both players hitting maximums in the final and it was Lawrence's finishing that was the decisive factor as he closed legs of 18-19-18-15 and 15 against Corner's 17-14 and 17.

Lawrence (15-17-20 and 20) defeated travel companion David Copley (14-13)  4-2 in the Semi-finals whilst Corner (14-19-17) whitewashed York's Justin Hobson.

In the 1/4 Final's Lawrence and Copley (17-15-16) both achieved 3-0 victories over Jonny Lester and Richard Yates respectively as Corner (15) defeated Neil Milton (14) 3-1 both players including maximums with Hobson (15-17-16) winning by the same margin over Neil Ward.

There were 10 x 180's in the during the last 16 with the results as follows: Milton 3 (18-15-17, 180) John Holden 1 (18, 180), Corner 3 (15-18, 180) Ian Atkin 0 (180), Ward 3 (180) Alex Pride 2, Hobson 3 (19-15-17) Trevor Day 1, Copley 3 (10 Hitting 2 x 180's) Stuart Limbert 2, Yates 3 (17) Jonny Scott 1, Lester 3 (19-17) Dean Norman 1 (18) and Lawrence 3 (16-18-14 hitting 2 x 180's) Danny White 0.

On the day there were 94 legs of 21 darts or less, 21 x 180's and in the hunt for the highest checkout prize of £25 sponsored by Hart of York Executive and Luxury Travel Richie Corner came out on top with a 146 out shot. Close behind were Neil Milton 141 and Alex Pride 138. Mark McLoughlin and Lewis Pride both had 106 checkouts with Ian Atkin taking out 100.

The prize for the Furthest Lady went to Val Wilson whilst Tom Dawson won the Furthest Youth (under 18). 

The winners of the "Blind Pairs" were Trevor Day and Matty Pemberton who beat Michael Gladstone and John White in the final. Beaten Semi-finalists were Anthony Case/Graham Day and John Holden/Alistair Skelton.

Ranking Event 3 takes place on Saturday 4th February 2017 at Huntington WMC in York where you need to register by 12.30pm for a 1pm start. Entries taken on the day.  Players of all standards are welcome as are spectators. Doors open at 10.30am with the bar opening at 11am.
