"Record Fields, Where Dreams Begin"

January 22, 2017

We at York Darts Promotions would like to offer our congratulations to York's Chris Quantock on gaining his PDC Pro Tour card  after battling it out at the PDC Q School in Wigan.

This years event attracted a record 434 entries and with four long, grueling, hard days of darts ahead Chris needed to either gain a Tour Card outright, by reaching the last 8 on any of the four days, or to be placed in the top twelve of the Q School order of merit come Sunday evening.

Day one saw Chris win three matches 5-1, 5-4 and 5-2 before going out in Round Four to Ritchie Edhouse 5-2. Four victories on day two took took him one step further as he eventually lost 5-4 to Micky Mansel in Round Five. Day three of the competition saw Chris progress through to Round Six before going down 5-4 to Scott Derbyshire. The final day and more quality darts from Chris would guarantee his tour card. A bye in the first round and then the same in the second, as his opponent was timed out, wasn't the ideal start. After a long wait before throwing his first competitive darts of the day Chris beat Mark frost 5-3 before defeat in Round Four to Stuart Kellet 5-3 ended his weekends exploits. The wait began and very soon it was clear to see that the four days of hard work had paid of and Chris had now become part of the elite PDC Pro Tour guaranteeing his place for the next two years.

Chris now joins fellow York darts player Richie Corner on tour and I am sure the experiences Richie has gained during his first year on the pro tour will be shared with Chris and help him settle in very quickly and we'll see both players climbing the order of merit in 2017.

We would also like to congratulate Mexborough's Darren Johnson who finished in eleventh place and also gaining his tour card.

We would like to wish all three players the very best of luck for 2017.

These are the twelve players who have won their PDC Pro Tour, Tour Cards, by vertue of their finishing place in the 2017 PDC Q School
