Mexborough's "Dynamite" Darren Johnson won the first Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championship Ranking Event One played at Huntington WMC in York on Saturday 7th January 2017 the event organised in Association with Red Dragon Darts and York Print.


Johnson, who plays alongside and travels with Terry "Big Joe" Temple on the PDC circuit, came through a strong field of 103 entrants as defeated Temple 5-4 in the Final.

Johnson's winning legs were 16-156 finish for 15-15-15 and 13 whilst Temple included legs of 17-16-15-14.

In the Semi-Finals Temple (19-17-16) defeated Mark Lawrence (18) 4-1 with Johnson inflicting the same scoreline on Derek Lumley.


The 1/4 finals saw Neil Hart dropping his first legs of the day losing 3-0 to Temple with 15 & 14 darts. Lawrence (15 & 17) beat Paul Bulmer 3-0 with Mark hartley going down 3-1 to Johnson who won with two 16 dart legs. Lumley defeated Stephen 3-2 in the last of the quarter's. 



 Neil Hart won the highest checkout prize sponsored by Hart of York Executive Travel with a 170 out shot. Other ton plus finishes came from Johnson (156 & 136), Tim Grice (135), Paul Bulmer (133) and Jim Gordon (120)


Michelle Binns (pictured with Mark Lea) won the Furthest Lady Prize also hitting a 180 whilst Tom Dawson won the Furthest Youth.

There were a total of 121 legs of 21 darts or less recorded with 39 of them being 15 darts or under and 23 x 180's were declared.


The "Blind Pairs" event attracted 76 players (38 Pairs) and the winners were Danny White & Eddie Mordica who beat Tommy Hair & Greg Beard 2-0 in the final.

 Ranking Event No.2 takes place on Saturday 21st January 2017 at Huntington WMC in York. Registration closes at 12.30pm for a 1pm start. Entry fee's taking on the day. Players of all standards are welcome as are spectators.
